Just realised I never posted my finished ‘year-long’ project for last year. Each square represents a week, and I used a combination of techniques. Goldwork, Hardanger, blackwork, stumpwork, needlelace, drawn thread work, beadwork, embellished photography, Bargello, Assisi work, cross-stitch…. etc etc. Mostly my designs, with a couple of motifs from cross-stitch books.
Hardanger snowflake designs on cotton even-weave napkins. A Christmas present.
The second of two gold-work designs I was teaching at the retreat in Lee Abbey last week.
Small offering this week- just a cross-stitched card.
Latest commission – a 10″ x 8″ embellished photograph. Not my usual style – a bit too pretty pretty. But it’s what they ordered! Photo transfer on to canvas, embellished with embroidery silks, couching, goldwork techniques.
NB : you may notice there is no week 32 – unfortunately I’ve been ill, so life has been on hold!
Only something small this week – an embellished card for a friend. Very simple, but more effective in real life than on the photo! Bullrush head is embroidered using raised chain stitch.
Beach hut doorstop. Knitted in dk wool. Pattern by Amanda Berry, and taken from Let’s Get Crafting Knitting and Crochet Issue 51. Knitted in one piece in round up to roof, then worked on straight needles. Detailing is chain stitch embroidery. Another item for the Christmas present box 🙂
Latest commission – an embellished photograph (transferred onto canvas) of the Governor’s House, Calton Hill, Edinburgh.

Autumn band sampler from the book ‘Jo Verso’s Cross stitch Year’. I did the Spring and Summer ones previously – only Winter left to do now. Looks a lot more complicated than it is. Stitched on 28 count country style evenweave. Finished size 3.5 in x 9.5 in (9 cm x 24cm)
NB – actually finished this last week, but no chance to post a photo till now!
