Elf Hat

10 Nov

P1110039

Elf hat made for a friend of mine who’s a storyteller. To go with last year’s pixie boots! This pattern is by Kirstie McLeod, and I got it off Ravelry. Aran wool, knitted on 5mm needles in the round.

Butterfly prayer shawl

Another prayer shawl made for a friend of mine. Double-knitting wool, size 5mm needles. It reminds me of a butterfly, for some reason.

I started this in February, but what with a new house and a new job, life suddenly got busy 🙂

Week 50: 11th December – 17th December 2013

More presents -a pair of elf boots. Really simple pattern, knitted in chunky wool on 5mm needles. Slip stitch mosaic pattern which makes them nice and warm. Turned up toe is produced by whip stitching the seam and pulling tight. These are for women’s size 5-7, and started off with 43 stitches. They took about 4 evenings (7-9), but I am not the world’s fastest knitter.

And the final four finger puppets to add to the advent calendar… 🙂

Week 47: 21st November – 27th November 2013

More finger puppets to add to the Advent Calendar collection. The free pattern for the barnyard animals came from the TLC website. The wise men, star and camels are my own design. Again, mostly knitted with DK yarn on 3.75mm needles. The star was crocheted and then stitched on to a white body, and the wise men’s gifts were crocheted using metallic cord.

I’ve been working on some finger puppets this week – I’m making two sets, one for my Advent Calendar, and one for a friend. Here are the first ten. All knitted with DK yarn and 3.75mm needles. Faces are made of felt and sewn on.
