Just realised I never posted my finished ‘year-long’ project for last year. Each square represents a week, and I used a combination of techniques. Goldwork, Hardanger, blackwork, stumpwork, needlelace, drawn thread work, beadwork, embellished photography, Bargello, Assisi work, cross-stitch…. etc etc. Mostly my designs, with a couple of motifs from cross-stitch books.

Week 10: 6th March – 13th March 2013

Autumn band sampler from the book  ‘Jo Verso’s Cross stitch Year’. I did the Spring and Summer ones previously – only Winter left to do now. Looks a lot more complicated than it is. Stitched on 28 count country style evenweave. Finished size 3.5 in x 9.5 in (9 cm x 24cm)

NB – actually finished this last week, but no chance to post a photo till now!

Week 3 b: 15th Jan to 21st Jan 2013

blackwork sampler village shop

Finally finished this WIP. A black-work sampler called ‘Village Shop’. It’s taken some time. Not that it was particularly difficult, but a bit tedious. However, a useful exercise in practising black-work, and it does look very effective now it’s finished.

Design is 22cm x 10cm (8.66 in x 4 in), on 16 h.p.i Aida, and was a kit from Derwentwater Designs in Penrith, Cumbria. Designer is Rose Swanwell. There are another two in the series.

Question is, what do I do with this one? Current thoughts are leaning towards making it the centrepiece of a suogan or quilt, as I have done with previous pieces of work.
