envelope puppets

A selection of envelope puppets, made in preparation for a children’s puppet making workshop. All of them represent characters from some of the stories to be told, hence the pirate dog and pirate cat (and rather odd squirrel and rabbit,  but hey, you try to make a squirrel using an envelope as a base!). Helping out my friend Anne Pitcher , a fellow storyteller who will be storytelling and puppet making with a class of nursery children near Aberdeen this week. My task was to invent really simple puppets that the children could make! Fun. I think my favourite is probably the crab 🙂

Oyster catcher

Oyster catcher painted on to scallop shell. Painting on shells is harder than you think! But quite good fun. I may go round him with a thin black pen to highlight him a bit more. No idea what I’m going to do with him. Stocking filler perhaps?
